Panda’s Protein Pancakes

 

Following on from yesterday’s protein shake recipe, I thought I’d try and invent some protein pancakes. Here’s the resulting recipe (with photos at the end).

 

Ingredients

The following makes about 5 pancakes at ~6 inches (diameter; approx.) each. Protein totals will depend on the brand/type of protein powder you use, but all up, just one of my pancakes offers about 14 grams of protein and 120 calories. Add an extra 8 grams of protein & 280 calories when serving with a banana and a handful of almonds.

  • 8 egg whites (or 250ml of “Zea Gold” bottled egg whites; pictured)
  • 1 egg (white & yolk)
  • 90 grams oatmeal
  • 40 grams protein powder (I use Redbak Mass XXXL)
  • 1 or 2 tablespoons sugar (to taste)
  • Cinnamon (to taste)
  • Vanilla essence (to taste)
  • Toppings (pick all or any): Maple syrup, ice cream, almonds, banana, Nutella, berries

 

Method

  1. Mix ingredients together
  2. Cook in a frypan or grill; flip when bubbles start to appear (or when suitable)
  3. Server with maple syrup + almonds and/or banana
